Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Blog Tour and Giveaway

Today I am one of 10 lucky bloggers on the Volume 9 blog tour for Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks.

This is the third time I have had a block published in this magazine and this block is the one I am most excited about.  Why? Because I love riding my bike.  I named it "Go Wheels?"
It's on page 45.

The flag is 3-D and the streamers are made from DMC floss.
What fun!
I like to use a shiny thread when I blanket stitch applique, either rayon or polyester.
It gives it a little pop. Wouldn't a dog look cute in that basket? (I have just the one.)

I loved this block so much when I made it, that I had to make a quilt using it.
I hand stitched all of the bicycle sayings with some help from a friend, using 3 strands of DMC floss
and a back stitch on a coarsely woven utility cloth.

Quiltmaker is giving away a copy of the magazine to one of my visitors.  Leave a comment telling me the last time you rode your bike along with your e-mail address so I can contact you if you win, with random.org.

For a second chance to win, Follow me on Bloglovin' and let me know, to receive a signed copy of the magazine from me. Remember to leave your e-mail address.  I will be choosing both winners at the end of the blog tour. To visit the other blogs. head over to Quiltmaker's blog to see the list by clicking HERE.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Wow - the last time I rode a bike was when I lived in Portsmouth... that is nearly 8 or 9 years ago! [unless you count an exercise bike a bike? Then that was three months ago!!!] Great bock!

I looked around and didn't see anyone so I just crossed my legs and pretended I was just sitting there until Mick could figure out how to get me up......giggle.

  159. I have a beautiful brand new bike and this spring I plan on putting some miles on it, which will be great because after a long and cold winter, I feel slightly out of shape!

  160. I think about 10 years ago. I keep moving to places that have large hills, which makes riding difficult. ebbtide45 at yahoo dot com

  162. We haven't ridden since last fall, but when we do, we ride our off-road bikes in the state parks of Texas, and around our beautiful little town of New Braunfels, TX. And we ALWAYS wear our helmets! This block just jumped to the top of my favorites list!

  166. Just spent winter in FL, bought a neighbors bike for $25.00 used to ride often when I was
Younger. Nice to be back on a bike riding but tough against the beach wind.

  167. I haven't ridden a bicycle in years! I had a terrible accident as a child so it took me many years to get back on. And even then, I hesitated. Okay, probably much more info than you wanted but there you have it! I love your block, love applique! Thanks for a chance at the give-away.

  170. Well, I rode my bike last summer (unfortunately some knee issues). Really love riding in a couple of our local parks, they have all of the hills, scenery, so peaceful! Your block is so wonderful, and I love the embroidery in the alternating blocks. Thanks for sharing what you love!

  171. I love your bright cheery bicycle block. I use to ride with some of my girlfriends in the outdoors around our 6.2 mile park. But then allergies kicked in so I ride a stationary bike at the fitness club and dream about the outdoors.

  174. Good grief, it has been decades. That shocks me--I used to ride my bike everywhere. Then I got my drivers license, and ventured farther and farther from home. Now we live in the country and all the roads are gravel, and not great for bikes. But your block brings back sweet memories. :)

  175. Oh my word, I can not remember the last time I was on a bike, but I've been recently helping my 5 year old learn to ride hers. Does that count? So far, this is my favorite block!
