I love this quilt. It is my favorite quilt of all time.
So the next best thing was to make a quilt about my dream farm. I call it Willoway - A Folk Art Farm.
There is lots of hand embroidery from the garden to the leaves on the weeping willow. It wouldn't be complete without the presence of our 2 black labs that are no longer with us. One of my favorite elements is the round bales of hay which I made from pearl cotton. I enjoyed adding the top and bottom border from pieced stars.
There are lots more quilts to see in this virtual quilt show. Go to the Blogger's Quilt Festival by clicking HERE for links to hundreds of others. You can enjoy quilts the whole week long. The post will be up through November 4th. There are so many bloggers out there that are making great quilts. This is an opportunity for lots of people to see their creations.
I will be heading to Houston on Saturday to go to Quilt Market. I am excited and nervous at the same time. It will be my first wholesale market. I will get to meet all the people at Martingale that I have only met via e-mail. I hope to take lots of photos and share some of the latest and greatest that will be coming to your local quilt shop in the near future.
In the meantime, enjoy the quilts!

I really love this! You obviously put a lot of thought and work into it.
ReplyDeleteThis is like the puzzles I do. I always think they can turn into a quilt and you've done it. Congratulations. It is inspiring me.
ReplyDeleteThis is so delightful. I would hang it on my wall any day.
ReplyDeleteI love your piece, beautiful work and subject. I want to do a quilt with buildings and things in my area and memories, so hopefully I can work on that this year.

Gorgeous quilt. Absolutely love it.
ReplyDeleteNo one its your favorite its beautiful .
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! When I saw the thumb nail I thought this was a panel (actually I thought "What a pretty panel, but that would have been cool if she could really do all the piecing in the picture like a real quilt.") My jaw dropped when I read that you hadn't used a panel but had really made it and had even included details like your two labs. This is such a beautiful quilt! Very well done.
ReplyDeletelove the quilt!

Wow, the quilt looks just like a folk art painting. I love how you did it in a landscape style. It is so well done with delicious details.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning quilt! I can see why it's your favourite!
ReplyDeleteSee, dreams DO come true - you have your stone house, complete with your pups & sheep! I did a cross stitch sampler and personalized it the same way - put my twin girls, a brown dog, a black dog, a couple of chickens, a peach tree, a cherry tree, etc. I even made the house bricks the same color as ours...and at the bottom, put the date we got married & established our family. In place of our family name, I put the name of our farm. Everyone that saw it knew it was ours alone!
ReplyDeleteWonderful interpretation of your dream! I clicked on the photo to enlarge so I could see the detail work. Just fantastic!
ReplyDeleteBellissimo, sembra un paesaggio naif!
